Casa Bella Vista is a great Contemporary Mexican-style house with 3 guests rooms (4 private bedrooms including the large Master Bedroom), 2 full Bathrooms, and common areas such as a beautiful Kitchen and Living Room, a huge deck and a large balcony with panoramic views of Guanajuato. Up on a hill, this 3-storey house is on a quiet cul-de-sac, and a safe 15-20 minute leisurely walk to the Centro.
Your host is a Canadian Artist from Vancouver, originally from Quebec. She'll be happy to show you around, and guide you to attractions such as the Diego Riviera House, which now has a modern extension for special exhibitions; the Alhondiga de Granaditas, a museum rich in Mexican history, which displays pre-Columbian artifacts, colonial history (this is where the heads of the insurrectionists Hidalgo, Allende, Aldama, and Jiménez adorned the four corners of the building, where they remained until 1821 as a dissuasive reminder to Mexican revolutionists), and regional crafts on two floors, and the murals of José Chavez Morado; the Don Quichote Iconographic Museum; the Museo del Pueblo; the new Museum of Contemporary Art which has a collection of amazing Leonora Carrington's sculptures; the prestigious University of Guanajuato and its galleries; the Teatro Juarez, part Morish, part Roman, and part Greek; the Jardin de la Union; the Basilica; the Museo Exhacienda San Gabriel de Barrera; the Alley of the Kiss; Casa Museo Gene Byron; the Mummy Museum, the Church of San Diego, and the Mercado Hidalgo.
Rates are $45/night per room for the B&B or $100/night for the full house.
